DAY 1: SHAWWAT BORDER (UZBEKISTAN–TURKMENISTAN) — KUNYA URGENCH — DARWAZA
Your journey begins at the Shawwat Border where you will be warmly welcomed by your local English-speaking guide and driver. Step into the captivating realm of Turkmenistan and set off toward the UNESCO-listed ancient city of Kunya Urgench. Discover the stunning mausoleums of Il Arslan — Soltan Tekesh — Nejmeddin Kubra — Soltan Ali and Turabek-Khanum, dating back to the 12th century. Marvel at the Minaret of Kutlug Timur and Mamun II, testaments to the region's architectural and cultural heritage. Enjoy a hearty lunch featuring traditional Turkmen cuisine at a local café. The adventure continues with a thrilling 4WD drive through the Garagum Desert (approximately 268 km) to reach the awe-inspiring Darwaza Gas Crater, famously known as the "Door to Hell." On the way, take an optional cultural stop at a desert village to visit a traditional Turkmen yurt and interact with locals. In the evening, savor a barbecue dinner beside the fiery crater before settling in for the night at a traditional yurt camp with sleeping bags or tents available upon request.
DAY 2: DARWAZA — ASHGABAT CITY TOUR
Wake up to the desert sunrise and enjoy a rustic breakfast at the yurt camp. On your way to the capital, make a brief 10-minute stop at the nearby Mud and Water Craters for memorable photo opportunities. Upon arrival in Ashgabat — The gleaming marble capital of Turkmenistan, check in at the Ak Altyn Hotel and take time to rest and freshen up. Have lunch at an Indian-friendly local café before heading out for an enriching evening city tour. Walk along marble-clad boulevards — lush parks and elegant fountains, and visit the Monument of Magtymguly Fragi, an emblem of national pride. Explore the city’s modern business district and shop for local souvenirs. Wrap up your day with a delicious dinner at a well-rated city restaurant.
DAY 3: ASHGABAT — ALABAI DOGS — AKHAL-TEKE HORSES — NISSA FORTRESS
Begin your morning with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a visit to the Alabai National Nursery, where you’ll learn about the legendary Turkmen Alabai dogs, whose history dates back to the 6th millennium BC. Continue on to Gökdepe, home to the National Museum of Gökdepe and the stunning Gökdepe Mosque. Then, proceed to a renowned Turkmen horse farm, where you’ll witness and even ride the mystical Akhal-Teke horses — Often referred to as the "Golden Horses" and among the world’s oldest and most majestic breeds. Legend says they bring good luck and healing to those who touch them. After a light local lunch, delve into the past with a visit to Nissa Fortress — The former capital of the Parthian Empire and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Conclude your cultural exploration at the National Museum of Turkmenistan. Return to Ashgabat for dinner and reach your hotel by 8:00 — 9:00 PM.
DAY 4: ASHGABAT — TURKMENABAT — FARAP BORDER
Enjoy your final breakfast in Turkmenistan and check out from the hotel. Transfer to the airport for a domestic flight to Turkmenabat, followed by a 4WD transfer to the Farap Border, where you will exit Turkmenistan and continue your journey back into Uzbekistan.
